Kingsdown Beach
Five minutes from the sea, yet wonderfully tucked away.
Sleeps 3 + baby · Roll-top bath · Jasmine-filled cottage garden · Off-street parking

Hidden Haven is exactly what its name promises. A quiet cottage tucked into the heart of Kingsdown, five minutes’ walk from the beach, a short stroll from the village stores and entirely removed from the feeling that the world is pressing in.    Inside, exposed brickwork, wood panelling and a beautiful roll-top bath give the cottage the warmth and character of somewhere that has been lived in and loved. Mornings begin gently with natural light flooding in through the skylight above the dining table, coffee on the counter and nowhere particularly to be. Evenings are made for the sofa, a film and the particular quietness that Kingsdown does better than almost anywhere on this coast.  The kitchen is bijou but thoughtfully equipped.  Everything you need for relaxed breakfasts, simple suppers and lazy lunches. Though with the Zetland Arms a short walk away serving seafood with the beach practically at its tables, and Deal’s award-winning restaurants fifteen minutes along the coastal path, many guests find themselves happily distracted by what’s on their doorstep.  Outside, the cottage garden is wrapped in sweet-smelling jasmine with a table and chairs that catch the morning sun. It is the kind of garden that makes you slow down the moment you step into it,  and the kind of spot that makes morning coffee feel like a genuine occasion before wandering down to the beach.  Kingsdown beach is a five-minute walk.  Shingle, unhurried and one of the most unspoiled stretches of the Kent coast. Rock pools appear at low tide. The wildflowers behind the beach huts are spectacular in late May. The coastal path south to St Margaret’s Bay and north to Deal starts practically from the front door.
