Golf Break Cottages on the Kent Coast

Handpicked coastal homes, minutes from some of England’s finest links courses

For golfers, this stretch of the Kent coast needs little introduction. Royal St George’s, Royal Cinque Ports, Prince’s and Kingsdown Golf Club sit within a remarkably small area,  meaning a single trip can deliver two, three or even four rounds on genuinely world-class courses without a lengthy drive between them. Add in the beaches, the coastal walks and the excellent restaurants, and a golf break here becomes something far more memorable than a standard trip away.  Foreland Cottages has a collection of handpicked properties positioned specifically to make the most of this. Here are our three recommended bases for a golf and coastal escape.

Planning your golf break

If you’re looking for a destination where world-class golf meets relaxed coastal living, the Kent coast offers something truly special.

The Dunes — Sandwich Bay Closest course: Royal St George’s Golf Club (5 minutes)

Sitting within the private estate of Sandwich Bay, The Dunes is as close to Royal St George’s as you can get without sleeping in a bunker. This beautifully appointed coastal apartment offers peaceful sea views, direct access to the beach and nature reserve, and the kind of relaxed comfort that makes the end of a long day on the links feel like a proper reward. A second round at Prince’s Golf Club, which borders the same estate, is also within easy reach.

Galatea — Deal Closest course: Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club (5 minutes)

After a morning on the fairways, the town’s independent shops, cafés and restaurants are right on the doorstep. The beach is a short walk away. It’s the ideal base for golfers who want a proper coastal town experience alongside golf.

Why the Kent Coast Works So Well for Golf Breaks

Few places in England offer such a concentration of outstanding golf in such a small area. Royal St George’s and Royal Cinque Ports are just five miles apart — seven minutes by car. Kingsdown Golf Club is a further fifteen minutes south. Prince’s sits alongside Royal St George’s on the Sandwich Bay estate. This means a long weekend here can realistically deliver three or four rounds on genuinely different and distinguished courses, all without travelling more than twenty minutes between them.  And when the round is done, the Kent coast offers one of the best post-golf environments in the country — excellent seafood restaurants, a thriving independent food scene in Deal, beaches to unwind on, and coastal walks that do a remarkable job of clearing the head after a difficult back nine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which golf courses are closest to your cottages?
Our cottages are positioned for easy access to Royal St George’s Golf Club, Prince’s Golf Club, Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club and Kingsdown Golf Club – four of the best courses on the Kent coast, all within a fifteen-minute drive of each other.

Are your cottages suitable for golf groups?
Yes — several of our properties are ideal for groups of friends travelling together for a golf break, with comfortable living spaces and enough room for everyone to relax and celebrate after a day on the course. Contact us and we’ll help you find the right fit for your group size.

How far are the courses from the cottages?
Each featured cottage is within five to ten minutes’ drive of its closest course. The Dunes at Sandwich Bay is the closest property to Royal St George’s and Prince’s. Galatea in Deal is best placed for Royal Cinque Ports. Fig Tree Lane in Kingsdown is ideal for Kingsdown Golf Club.

What can non-golfers do during a golf break?
Plenty. Deal’s independent shops, cafés and restaurants are excellent, the beaches around Walmer and Kingsdown are beautiful, and the coastal paths around St Margaret’s Bay and the White Cliffs are among the most dramatic in Kent.
