There’s something rather special about the coast once summer slips away. The beaches get quieter. The walks get longer. The sea turns a little wilder and coming home to a warm cottage, a hot drink and nowhere else you need to be suddenly feels like a very good idea. Autumn in Deal and along the Kent coast is made for windswept walks, pub lunches, slow mornings, independent shops, big skies and that wonderful feeling of having the beach almost to yourself.
And half-term? We think it’s one of the best times to come. Pack the wellies, bring the dog, persuade the children that a blustery beach walk absolutely is entertainment and escape to the coast for a few days.
